Rudy Zarfas
Rudy Zarfas, Owner of K&F Coffee Roasters, was first introduced to the family-owned company nearly two decades ago. As a former employee of DS Services of America, Zarfas began selling K&F products and expanding his knowledge in the art of coffee, alongside previous owner and mentor Don Dominguez in 2002.
K&F Coffee Roasters is a brand that Zarfas has long admired. As former Northwest Regional Sales and Marketing Manager at DS Services of America, Zarfas endorsed the K&F brand to customers above all other brands. A strong believer in the genuine family-based culture of the company and the talented artisans behind the world-class product, Zarfas attests this brand is unmatched in the coffee community. Zarfas took the helm as owner of K&F Coffee Roasters, in August 2019. He is eager to continue learning, telling the K&F story and building a presence in the community.
Aside from his most recent obsession for sourcing and blending the worlds premium coffees, Zarfas enjoys spending quality time with his kids, Presley and Cash and his fiancé Ana. You will also find him enjoying his passion of Oregon’s great outdoors.
Don Dominguez
Considered to be one of the Finest Roastmasters of the Pacific Northwest, Don Dominguez, personally selects and samples every batch of Arabica beans that arrives at K&F Coffee Roasters. His hands-on approach derives from his grounded upbringing and passion for all things coffee.
At a little shop in Ports O’ Call Village in San Pedro, California, Don Dominguez had an epiphany. A young college graduate who earned his living in freight shipping, Don never forgot his passion for coffee. Upon entering the shop, he could smell the enticing aromas of vanilla and hazelnut. The scents led to packages of gourmet roast coffee from Portland, Oregon, Don’s hometown. Something started brewing in Don. A mix of envy, hope and resolve.
Don encouraged his father, Bud, to start a coffee company with him and in March of 1983, K&F Coffee Roasters became one of the first micro-roasters in Portland. K&F Coffee Roasters is now the oldest family-owned specialty coffee roaster in Portland.
